What is Smart Review?

Smart Review is a smarter way to handle receipts in Receipt AI.

Instead of reviewing every receipt manually, we process everything automatically—and only ask you to step in when something needs attention.

When will I be asked to review?

With Smart Review enabled, most receipts are processed automatically.

We’ll only ask you to review a receipt when something looks off, such as:

+ The total is missing or doesn’t add up

+ The vendor name is unclear

+ The date is missing

+ Other inconsistencies are detected

These receipts will be marked as , so you can quickly check and fix them.

You may recognize this label if you’ve used Receipt AI before—it simply means Smart Review needs your input.

Smart Review does more than fix errors

Smart Review isn’t just about catching mistakes—it also helps automate your workflow over time.

For example, receipts from the same company often appear under different names:

Amazon

Amazon Prime

Even though they’re the same company, they can end up as separate vendors in your accounting software—making reports harder to understand.

With Smart Vendor Matching, Receipt AI automatically groups these together and matches them to the correct vendor in QuickBooks or Xero.

When we’re not 100% sure, we’ll ask you to review it once—then remember your choice for next time.

That means:

+ Fewer manual corrections

Can I turn Smart Review off?

Yes—you can turn off Smart Review if you prefer fully automatic processing.

However, some checks will always run to protect your data.

Duplicate receipts will still be flagged

Critical errors that could affect your books will still require attention

Features like Smart Vendor Matching work best when Smart Review is enabled, since we may occasionally need your confirmation.
