From Free Trial to Paid Trial

Since launching Receipt-AI in May, we initially offered only yearly subscriptions. However, we realized that potential users might prefer to try it out before committing to a year-long subscription. So we integrated a 7-day free trial with a credit card requirement. Sooner or later, it became evident that some individuals were exploiting Stripe's free trial system by signing up with cards that had insufficient funds or were outright fake.

Inspired by Pieter Levels' stance on value-driven products and the bootstrapping culture, we've reconsidered our approach to product design and pricing. Moving away from a free trial, we now invite potential users to try Receipt-AI with a starting subscription of $29 per month, providing an opportunity to experience our service before making a long-term commitment.

This new strategy not only reduces our workload but also ensures clear and transparent pricing. More importantly, it has significantly improved the security of our customers' accounts, making it more efficient for customers to get the support and features they need.
